Even though Wonder Man didn’t exactly set Disney Plus on fire when it arrived in January, Marvel fans are still debating what comes next — whether that’s a second season, a follow-up project, or simply leaving the story where it ended.
The MCU series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a struggling actor hiding a very real superhuman edge while chasing the lead role in a big superhero production. Critics largely embraced the show’s lighter, character-driven tone, and it currently sits at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Many reviews praised it for feeling distinct within Marvel’s TV slate — more of a warm, witty buddy comedy filtered through the chaos of Hollywood than a typical world-ending spectacle.
Now, the conversation has shifted to what Marvel should do with Simon and his circle. Over on Reddit, the fandom is split: some viewers feel there’s unfinished business and plenty of runway for more episodes, while others argue the first season wrapped up cleanly and the characters would be better used as guests elsewhere in the MCU.
One of the most popular pitches is a full-on team-up: a West Coast Avengers-style expansion that could pull in familiar faces like Shang-Chi and Vision. For some, the appeal is obvious — Wonder Man already leaned into comedic chemistry and celebrity satire, and a West Coast ensemble could keep that energy while broadening the superhero scope.
As one fan put it, they’d love more “Simon and Trevor” chaos in and around the acting world, plus bigger celebrity cameos and a deeper dive into Simon’s family — including the possibility of his brother stepping into the Grim Reaper identity, setting up an ongoing rivalry. Another commenter imagined the duo on the run from the Department of Damage Control (DODC), crossing paths with heroes like Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, and Daredevil before forming something resembling the West Coast Avengers. Not everyone agrees, though: some would rather see Simon and Trevor pop up organically in other Marvel projects instead of anchoring another season.
Beyond the question of structure, there’s one supporting character fans keep circling back to: Doorman. Despite the show’s compact six-episode run, he emerged as a standout for many viewers — and plenty of people want Marvel to bring him back in a bigger way.
One fan argued that Simon and Trevor don’t necessarily need a second season, but said that if Marvel does continue the series, “more Doorman would be cool,” especially given the implication he could now be in DODC custody. Others echoed the same sentiment, calling for more development — not just of the superhero identity, but of the person underneath it — and specifically name-checking Doorman as a must-return element.
Wonder Man is streaming on Disney Plus now.
